Megan’s journey with yoga and Pilates began when she started taking classes from her mom back in 2009. Her personal yoga and Pilates practice created a passion for health and wellness and a desire to help individuals find functional ways to move and improve overall health. This passion led Megan to graduate from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Health and Human Physiology and Health Promotion. It also led to furthering her studies within yoga and Pilates to become a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher and SCW Certified Pilates Instructor. Full-time, you’ll find Megan teaching health and physical activity skills courses to college students at the University of Iowa. Megan hopes to use her degree, certifications and years of experience to help individuals of all ages and abilities become more in-tune with their body, breath and mind. The classes that Megan teaches are centered around being mindful, finding your breath and moving in a way that works for your body. She hopes her classes leave students feeling better (in mind and body) than when they walked in to class.
Megan Tackett instructs the following:
TRX® Suspension Training® is a revolutionary total-body fitness program that uses gravity against the individual’s own body weight to simultaneously develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. The TRX® device is attached to an anchor point. Each participant then grabs the handles with their hands or attaches their feet in the foot cradles. One simply changes the angle of their body from the ground for the different exercises. Having the ability to change the body's angle allows one to work with more or less body weight which can intensify or modify a specific exercise. Each session will include a total body workout with squats, lunges, core work and upper body.
A perfectly balanced yoga class that focuses on flowing through postures and incorporating breath work (pranayama) into all movements (asana). We may offer a faster flow, hold poses longer, add in core strengthening options and try more challenging postures, however modifications will be given. The flow and postures in class will allow students to build strength and find length and space in the body while relaxing the mind. This class will end with a 10 minute relaxation/meditation, helping to restore the body and promote sleep.
